Truly up in arms - American Government is messed up!

So, what does the general population of America think of its government, I wonder? I mean, Obama was voted in. I wonder if that means that the majority of America desires that the Government take over. If this is the case then America is truly messed up.

It is my strong opinion that America is full of a bunch of lazy and self-absorbed people who simply don't want to work or take responsibility for their own selves. With those people the opposite spectrum of people in this country are those that are obsessed with greed, power, and money doing whatever they can to include taking advantage the lazy, self-absorbed people lurching off them and then lining their pockets because they know how to work the system. Finally, there's another group of people in this country, which I believe is quite large but quiet. Those are people like me who see what's going on and are almost frantic at the thought when they see the subtleties of what's happening to our beloved nation.

What can we do? What should we do? The goal, obviously, is to return this country to a lawful and strongly desired republic where the law rules, not people who are corrupt and self-serving such as our government has become.
