So, I've been trying to be really good about letting Ellen sleep in the morning because she needs the extra sleep. So, I wake up with the kids. The rules are that the kiddos wake up, make their beds, get dressed, and then eat breakfast. Jenna, of course, can't make her bed yet. So, she wakes up, gets a diaper change, gets her close on after I get them for her, and then she gets placed in her booster seat to eat breakfast. Jenna likes to snap the restraining belt of her booster seat together. I've come to know this about her.
This morning, I placed her in her booster seat and told her to click herself in. As I was finishing my instructions to her I began to walk to the cupboard to get bowls. I saw her lean her head down toward her belly button as if she were going to communicate with it. As I was walking to the cupboard I heard her little voice say, "click, click", after which she pleasingly told me, "I'm clicked in Daddy!" as though she had made this amazing accomplishment. It was one of the funniest things I've seen and heard her do. She is such a loving and amazing little girl.
This morning after breakfast I put her bowl and spoon in the sink and then cleaned her up. I "unclicked" her from the booster chair and picked her up. "Ok, Jenna, go downstairs and watch TV", I instructed. She was adamant about staying right up there in my arms with me as she grasped my neck harder and said, "No! I want to stay with you Daddy!" I mean, how can a father resist that?! I CAN'T! So, I just enjoyed her tendency to play with my neck and ear with her hand. I love that! I went downstairs with her again and yet again, I instructed her to sit down and watch TV. She had a better idea. "Sit down with me on the couch with me, Daddy", she requested. *sigh*. Can't resist it!! She's sooo adorable and rarely does she want this much attention from me. So, while holding her in my arms still I sat in the couch. Then I played as though my hand was a slow-moving spider walking on my belly toward her. She was sitting to my right on my side. She was so hilarious! She took her little hand and started "crawling" on my stomach as though it was a spider. It would crawl on my stomach onto my arm and she would happily exclaim that it was a baby spider.
Finally, I very much needed to start getting ready for work. She had had enough and was willing to let me get up and go. She stayed on the couch watching the little TV show.
It was a blast with the kids this morning but with Jenna especially. She's such a beautiful and loving little girl. Jessica and James were *very* good this morning. It was just a fine morning.
